This last week in Advanced Biology, students were tasked with designing a self-sustaining ecosystem using two 2L bottles that would keep a goldfish, cricket, and plants alive based on their knowledge of the water, carbon, and nitrogen cycles. This week their ecosystems are still going strong and the organisms in them are looking healthy!

Baby Bottle Campaign: February 17-28!
Thomas More Prep Marian is excited to partner with Catholic Charities of Northern Kansas for the Baby Bottle Campaign—helping provide essential support for mothers and families in need!
How it works: Each classroom will receive a large baby bottle, and for two weeks, students, families, and staff are encouraged to bring in spare change, cash, or checks to help fill it up.
Every little bit adds up to make a big difference! Join us in giving hope and making an impact!

We say thank you to Dusty Washburn of Farm Bureau Insurance for taking time to speak to our 6th Grade Personal Finance class. about auto and home insurance. Students learned a about various topics like types of insurance, what happens when someone has no insurance, rates going up due to accidents, and lower rates connected to good grades for young drivers. Plenty of great information!

The Monarchs Forensics team traveled to Trego High School Thursday night for their first Novice tournament of the season. Ernest Pfeifer placed fourth in Humorous Solo and Samuel Schroeder placed first in Extemporaneous Speaking, qualifying him for State Festival. TMP-M hosted 2A regional Scholars Bowl this evening. The Monarchs finished in 2nd place, earning a spot at next week's state tournament in Moundridge. Sylvan-Lucas won the regional with an undefeated record.
A huge thanks to everyone who volunteered to work at the tournament. We couldn't have done this without you!

If Catholic schools were a state, they would rank first in the NAEP scale scores for grades 4 and 8 in math and reading.
Reading and Math assessment data was released at the tail-end of Catholic Schools Week - https://ncea.org/NCEA/NCEA/How_We_Serve/News/Press_Releases/Catholic-Schools-Outshine-Public-Schools-in-Nations-Report-Card.aspx

Change War Declared for Tomorrow's TMP-M vs. Trego Basketball Game
The TMP-Marian vs. Trego-WaKeeney basketball game will include a friendly competition to see which school's fans can come up with the most change to benefit the Ellis County and Trego County Legacy Funds. These funds are used to grant money to schools and other organizations in the county.
So check your seat cushions and vehicle floorboards for loose change before coming to the basketball game at TMP-Marian tomorrow. Varsity girls start at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity boys. Go Monarchs!

Congratulations to TMP-M Dane G. Hansen Scholarship Interviewees
TMP-Marian seniors have a strong track record with the Hansen Scholarship program. Typically 20% or more of the senior class qualifies for the interview with about half subsequently winning a scholarship. Your odds of earning scholarships are very good if you complete the Hays Catholic Schools curriculum!
This year's interviewees, who represent 24% of the senior class, are (as pictured L to R) Will Robinson, Lucas Hess, Haley Stecklein, Caleb Marintzer, (bottom row) Gordon Schroeder, Jake Brady, Breanna Seiler, and Brooke Koenigsman. The school will further prepare candidates by providing mock interviews leading up to the Feb. 12 interview date.
God Bless and Good luck Monarchs!

We are always in need of lunch servers! Please sign up for a shift if you are able and willing. This is a great opportunity for parents or grandparents to spend time with their kids! Call the office with any questions! Link below.
