Our faculty & staff put in extra work & time on various committees for the school which keeps each special event, fundraiser and staff activity fun, successful and smooth. Please feel free to contact one of the staff if you have questions regarding a school event or fundraiser!

Committee: The committee consists of HFE faculty members, staff, and parent volunteers.
Organization: The committee consists of volunteers who are interested in general construction and maintenance projects. This committee reports to the School Principal.
Responsibilities: The purpose of this sub-committee to support the janitorial staff with large projects, such as painting, floor cleaning, moving furniture, etc.
Green School Committee

Organization: The committee consists of HFE faculty members and volunteer parents. The committee reports to the School Advisory Executive Council.
Responsibilities: Implementing “green school” programs, environmental projects, recycling program, and educational activities and resources.
Publicity/Public Relations Committee

Responsibilities: This committee works in conjunction with all other school committees, administration, and office staff. The committee’s priorities are to improve communication between the school and parents and the school and the community. Committee members assist with advertising, brochures, newsletters, newspaper advertisements, and organize information for Catholic Schools Week, Chili Supper, Red Wheel Pizza Sales and other special events for students. All public communication must be approved by the School Principal.
Student Life Committees
VBRD – Virtue-Based Restorative Discipline (formerly Bullying Prevention)

Organization: The committee consists of HFE faculty members and students.
Responsibilities: The bully prevention program is a universal intervention for the reduction and prevention of school bullying problems. The main arena for the program is within the school, and school staff and upper grade have the task of implementing the program.
Catholic Schools Week Committee

Organization: The committee consists of HFE faculty members.
Responsibilities: The committee is responsible for planning, promoting, and advertising catholic school week activities and special celebrations.

Responsibilities: Compiling the questions or word lists, and conducting the actual bees during Catholic Schools Week in an organized manner.
Dominic Savio Club
6th Grade Teachers
Organization: The club consists of students in the 6th grade.
Responsibilities: Dominic Savio is a service/spiritual club designed to enhance the 6th grade religious education program. Its members will operate a concession stand three times a month for the purpose of dispersing the profits to the poor and worthy organizations. Additionally, four additional fundraisers are conducted throughout the year. The 4th week students will conduct a Savio meeting and do a service project such as visiting the elderly or helping with Tiger Tots.

Responsibilities: This committee oversees the technology needs currently and in the future for the school.
E-mail Distribution System & Web Development

Responsibilities: Develop and maintain various e-mail distribution list; including school-wide, classroom, and sub-committee communication lists. Create and maintain the school website. Review material and post approved information online. Investigate new technologies and improve upon existing website.

General Education Intervention Team (GEIT)

Responsibilities: The committee’s purpose is to support and assist faculty in helping students overcome academic challenges they face in the classroom. The committee works in conjunction and collaborates with faculty members in an effort to provide the best academic environment and opportunities for student learning.

Responsibilities: This committee oversees the needs of students needing extra emotional support and care via teacher recommendations and brainstorms ways to integrate new ideas for the students.

Responsibilities: Establish educational goals for Holy Family Elementary, consistent with the requirements of the Salina Diocese, the law, and the statewide goals and standards established by the Board of Education. Provide insight and advice on major adoptions or revisions of curriculum and textbooks. Establish and periodically review educational goals for Holy Family Elementary. Work to develop a comprehensive text book replacement plan and provide recommendations to the policy/bylaws committee on school curriculum policies.
Toni Whitmer & Randy Sauer
Responsibilities: Prepares the class liturgical celebration schedule, and assists with the coordination of special celebrations, (i.e.: Thanksgiving, Ash Wednesday, Father’s and Mother’s Mass, special recognitions, etc.). Prepares the music for each school mass and organizes practice times with the classrooms.

Responsibilities: This committee oversees the recognition and support of all staff and faculty at the school through celebrations, special recognitions, grievance support, and major milestones.
Mary’s Baby Shower
Janice Collins, Jennie Helget, Karen Rohr, Amadee Staab
Organization: The committee consists of HFE faculty members & parent volunteers.
Responsibilities: Chairpersons prepare and send out invitation for Mary’s Baby Shower benefiting Birthright of Hays. Coordinate cake, punch, decorations, and set-up the day of the shower. Contact volunteers to serve at the shower, and oversee clean-up and delivery of gifts to Birthright.
Nutrition & Wellness

Organization: The chairpersons are appointed by the School Administrator. The committee consists of HFE faculty members & our head cook.
Responsibilities: Promote health education, physical education, nutrition services, and ensuring a healthy school environment. Work in conjunction with the principal, food services, and physical education coordinator to ensure school health and wellness. This would include adopting a school wellness policy, and promotion of programs to create a healthier school environment.
NCA Steering Committee

Organization: The chairperson is appointed by the School Administrator. The committee consists of members of HFE faculty.
Responsibilities: The committee finalized NCA Accreditation in 2008. The committee will continue to review the accreditation criteria and recommend activities that should be undertaken.
Professional Development Council (PDC)

Organization: School Administrator and appointed faculty members.
Responsibilities: The Professional Development Committee reviews the professional development needs of the school faculty, recommends new initiatives, and monitors the ongoing local advancement opportunities.
Evangelization Commitee / Christ’s Cupboard
Karen Rohr, Maddy Quimby, Tracy Perrett
Responsibilities: Evangelization – oversees the evangelization and faith-based growth of the staff and faculty at HFE. Christ’s Cupboard – Providing supplemental food/snacks & organizing these items for qualifying students to take home on weekends to help sustain their nutritional needs while school is not in session.

Responsibilities: This committee assists one another with the needs of both HFE and TMP-M in various major areas of each building, including educational materials, grounds & maintenance, preschool program, After School Care program, evangelization, Thomas More society and donations, pastoral care, technology, calendar and future enrollment. The committee meets once per month to discuss each area and brainstorms ideas and solutions.
Chris Dinkel & Randy Sauer
Responsibilities: One lead teacher is elected by staff & faculty vote, one teacher on the upper floor and one on the bottom floor. Each teacher serves (2) consecutive years as lead teacher and assists the principal by standing in as leaders of the school in her absence and also serve as help for the principal during staff meetings or support in other school situations as needed.
