2021 Quest for the Lost Key of Protection
The key was located by Maggie and Logan Baalmann near the original Rome townsite. Congratulations!
Here is the full set of clues that would lead you to Rome….
Clue 1: Three cubed and south (South of 27th street)
Clue 2: Peak kissed by the god’s rays from the east and west (Obelisk shaped monument)
Clue 3: No money needed at this Big Creek crossing (There is a bridge that crosses Big Creek as one drives toward the monument from Hays)
Clue 4: At home between the fields (Fields are on both sides of the street of the monument, one is the TMP JV baseball field)
Clue 5: One block north, the rail is brass. One block south, the rail can be homebound. (The monument is on 12th street and near the railroad tracks)
Clue 6: 176 first downs from Buffalo Bill Cody (The monument references one mile from statue of Buffalo Bill Cody in town, there are 1,760 yards in a mile, and 10 yards in a football first down, thus 176 first downs)
Clue 7: No chestnuts for Pete’s sake (Similar shaped obelisks mark the chestnut street district and were constructed by Pete Felten. The monument is shaped similarly and not in downtown.)
Clue 8: All apostles lead to home (“All roads lead to Rome” 12th–reference to 12 apostles–street leads to the Rome monument)
Clue 9: Float like a butterfly, roar like a tiger (The monument is situated between TMP property–Monarch butterfly–and FHSU property)
Clue 10: St. Peter’s, Washington’s, Cleopatra’s, and Lateran’s (All of these are famous obelisks in the world)
Clue 11: DC:USA :: Vatican: ________ (Answer to the analogy is “Rome”)
Clue 12: Oh give me a home, where the Buffalo Rome (It is the Rome monument and specifically references Buffalo Bill Cody.)
We pray for St. Benedict to intercede on our behalf to protect us from sin and evil in our way. The St. Benedict’s medal placed upon an ancient key serves to remind us of this need for protection. Jesus is the key to Heaven but faith unlocks the door!
During Catholic Schools Week, you are invited to go on a quest for the “Lost Key of Protection.” This journey will be an adventure that involves studying daily clues, searching, inquiring, questioning and reasoning. The “Lost Key” must be found before the end of Catholic Schools Week, Saturday, February 6th.
Each day two clues will be given on Holy Family Elementary’s facebook page and at www.hfehays.org as well as shared on TMP-Marian’s facebook page and at www.tmp-m.org. The clues will be clearly labeled as a “Lost Key Clue.” These daily clues will be revealed at 3:00pm and 5:00pm and will give you vital information that will lead to the location of the Lost Key. The Lost Key is no larger than 5 inches long or tall and is located within a few minuted drive of Holy Family Elementary. The key was lost on public, Catholic school or Catholic church property, where it still resides today. Nothing must be opened, turned over or otherwise disturbed to see or discover where this key is located; it can be seen by the naked eye. The key will not be moved until it is discovered or the deadline passes.
The first treasure hunter to successfully quest after and discover the Lost Key will be richly rewarded for their efforts. The finder of the Lost Key will be able to access great riches in the form of $250 HFE Bucks. If the key is not found before the deadline, it will be deemed as forever lost!
Please carefully read and follow the rules for the Quest:
