Fundraiser, Donor & Grants Fund HFE Technology Initiative
With the money that we raised from the sale of World’s Finest Chocolate, a $10,000 gift from a trust at St. Joseph’s church, supplement from the teachers’ classroom funds, and $1500 grant from the Bishop’s Catholic Community Foundation we were able to purchase two classroom sets of Chromebooks for student use, as well as individually selected devices for each classroom teacher to assist with the full integration of technology in their classrooms. In we have grown from one classroom set of laptops and a computer lab to four classroom sets of laptops, two classroom sets of Chromebooks, an updated the computer lab, interactive whiteboard technology in over half of the classrooms, not to mention all of the classroom devices teachers have been working towards. This could not have been accomplished without donor financial help, teachers willing to try new technologies, and the resourceful work of our IT Director, Mr. Duff Watson. Technology is not a replacement in education, but an additional tool that challenges students to grow in their problem solving and technical skills. Thank you for your support to make this a reality. We will continue to grow the availability of devices for student use.

VIRTUS & Parent Volunteering
If you, your spouse, a grandparent or other relative plan to volunteer to drive for school field trips this coming school year, it is now Diocesan policy that all volunteers complete the VIRTUS training. We also must have a copy of your drivers license & auto insurance card on file. To complete the VIRTUS training, please click the link below and click “VIRTUS Registration”. You will need to create a log-in and password. You will be prompted to complete a background check, so if you have not done so within the last 5 years through the Salina Diocese, please submit your information for one. This would not include a background check for your work unless you are employed by a parish or school in the Diocese! We encourage you to carve out about 90 minutes of uninterrupted time, as there will be a video that you will not be able to exit and resume later, followed by a short questionnaire. Upon completion, you will be able to print out a certificate. If you have any troubles printing it, we can let the Diocese know and they will mail us a copy. We thank you so much for committing to this process in order to volunteer at our school!
Prayer to St. Joseph for Rain
Blessed Saint Joseph, God chose you to be the husband of the Virgin Mary and the foster father of Jesus. You cared for the Son of God as your own son and taught him a trade. Because you were so close to him, He will not refuse anything you ask. Intercede for us in our great need. Pray for the blessing of rain. We are grateful for the moisture that we have received, but the land needs more. Ask God to water our fields and gardens, to fill the rivers, streams and lakes, and to bless our crops and livestock. Help us to live close to Jesus and Mary, as you did, strong in faith and good works, caring for one another. Amen.
Mary, Mother of God, and spouse of Joseph, pray for us.
St. Isadore, patron of farmers and farm life, pray for us.
